Church Life 30.11.21

Winter Social

On Saturday, Martin and Lesley opened their house, and garden with marquee, up to the church so we could share food and fellowship.

After a sparse couple of years where things of this sort have been in short supply, it was wonderful to be with other members of the church and chat in a more informal setting with much more time to enjoy each other’s company than we usually have on a Sunday morning.

No doubt people were blessed by the excellent catering, but that was a vehicle for people talking and laughing together which leads to further blessing.  Perhaps look at this recent talk from Sunday morning to see what we mean…

We were spoiled with bacon butties for the early birds who got there before 10am, and then coffee and tea and biscuits and cakes were available through the day, with homemade soup and bread for lunch and curry for dinner.

Martin and Lesley, ably assisted by Linda and Kaye (and others) did an absolutely sterling job and we are really grateful to them for all they did arranging beforehand, cooking on the day and clearing up afterwards: thank you so much!

Thank you to everyone who came along too, and for being open to popping in and out so as to enable a rolling supply of hungry church members to join throughout the day without creating an unnecessarily high Covid risk.

We hope to do something again soon depending on what happens in the next weeks and months, but make sure to put the date in your diary once the next socials are planned, not just for the excellent food, but the joy of being together and sharing conversation and meaningful fellowship as we seek to enjoy and display all that the Kingdom of God is for the church as a family of believers.
