It was a privilege to return to Bulgaria to serve the various churches overseen by our good friend, Georgi. We’ve had a connection with him for over ten years now and it’s really encouraging to see how God is blessing the different churches around Vratsa, where he is based, in the northwest of Bulgaria.
As always, the main focus of my time there was teaching and preaching over the course of the four days and it was lovely to see familiar faces and very humbling to be so warmly received.
Like us, the church led by Georgi in Vratsa has an amazing story of God’s provision enabling them to have their own buildingin recent years. I was really encouraged to see the Sunday morning worship band comprising five teenagers who have each gone on with God so wonderfully in the years I’ve known them.
The church in Vratsa was started about ten years ago and in the bigger town of Montana Georgi has established another fellowship which he goes to with a small team every Sunday afternoon. It was encouraging to see this church progressing particularly in terms of their sense of being a family together – such an important reality for any church.
As well as these two large towns, I also served several village churches made up mainly of Roma Christians. I really love their passionate and vibrant times of sung worship. They live in relative poverty but they clearly appreciate their riches in Christ!
